چکیده

Glycosphingolipid analyses were performed on three clonal lines of the mouse Cl300 neuroblastoma (NZA, NA, and NB41A) and on three neuroblastoma X L cell hybrid lines (NLI-15A, NLI-7A, and NLI-11A) differing in teeir membrane electrical activities. Striking variations Of ganglioside but not of neutral glycosphingolipid patterns were observed in the neuroblastoma lines. No differences were observed between the glycosphingolipid patterns of neuroblastoma cells (NZA) grown in suspension as “undifferentiated” neuroblasts or in monolayer as “differentiated” neurons. The neuroblastoma X L cell hybrid lines exhibited neutral glycosphingolipid patterns similar to the sum of the the parental neuroblastoma and L cell patterns, whereas their ganglioside patterns differed from those of the two parents. Despite their widely differing membrane electrical activities, the glycosphingolipid profiles of these three hybrid lines were generally similar.

The Ultrastructure of Neuroblastoma Glioma Somatic Cell Hybrids

A current approach to the investigation of the biochemical basis for neuronal function is the development, from neuroblastoma tumors, of clonal cell lines which grow rapidly in cell culture but which retain the ability to express one or more characteristics of differentiated neurons. These characteristics may be morphological (1-3), biochemical (1, 4), or physiological (5-8). Recently, it has b...

Effects of Trichostatin A on the Histone Deacetylases (HDACs), Intrinsic Apoptotic Pathway, p21/Waf1/Cip1, and p53 in Human Neuroblastoma, Glioblastoma, Hepatocellular Carcinoma, and Colon Cancer Cell Lines

Background:  The aberrant and altered patterns of gene expression play an important role in the biology of cancer and tumorigenesis. DNA methylation and histone deacetylation are the most studied epigenetic mechanisms. Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACIs) such as valproic acid (VPA) and trichostatin A (TSA) are a group of anticancer compounds for the treatment of solid and hematological canc...

A Neuroblastoma X Glioma Hybrid Cell Line with Morphine Receptors

A neuroblastoma X glioma hybrid cell line with well-developed neural properties was found that has high-affinity morphine receptors. The average cell contains approximately 3 X 105 receptors. In contrast, parent cells and other neuroblastoma or hybrid cell lines tested had few or no morphine receptors. Membrane preparations that bind narcotic analgesics such as morphine and its congeners have b...

Neuronal properties of hybrid neuroblastoma X sympathetic ganglion cells.

Clonal mouse neuroblastoma cells without tyrosine 3-monooxygenase [EC 1.14.16.2; tyrosine hydroxylase; L-tyrosine, tetrahydropteridine:oxygen oxidoreductase (3-hydroxylating)] activity were fused with normal cells from embryonic mouse sympathetic ganglia. One of the 37 hybrid cell lines obtained possesses high tyrosine 3-monooxygenase activity and synthesizes dopamine. These cells also have exc...

Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 Latency-Associated Transcript Reduces Human Neuroblastoma Cell Proliferation

Background and Aims: The latency-associated transcript (LAT) transcribed by latent Herpes Simplex Virus type-1 in neuron cells are able to influence their host cell pathways. While the most of previous studies were focused on anti-apoptotic effects of LAT, our investigation is making an effort to explore LAT potency on cell cycle pathway in neuroblastoma cell lines. Methods: The evaluation of L...
